Job summary

The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute seeks a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Coordinator to act as a liaison to patients, caregivers and interdisciplinary teams throughout the cellular therapy process. You will coordinate pre-cellular therapy testing and workups, and schedule admissions under the direction of the cellular therapy-attending physician.

The role requires Ohio RN licensure with a BSN, hospital experience and familiarity with OSU/ BMT program;

Scope of Position

The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute’s (OSUCCC-James) mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The BMT Patient Coordinator acts as a liaison to patients/caregivers, interdisciplinary teams, referring and cellular therapy physicians throughout the cellular therapy (includes HSCT and BMT as well as other cellular therapies such as CAR T cells; NK cells, TIL cells; etc.) screening and preparatory process.

Position Summary

The BMT Patient Coordinator acts as a liaison to patients/caregivers, interdisciplinary teams, referring and cellular therapy physicians from the time of the referral to the admission for cellular therapy. The BMT patient coordinator works closely with payers and hospital financial collection specialist to satisfy payer coverage requirements. The BMT Patient Coordinator coordinates with the cellular therapy clinicians all pre-cellular therapy testing and clinical work up and schedules patient for admission/services at the direction of the cellular therapy-attending physician.

Minimum Qualifications

Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Ohio. BSN required. Previous hospital experience required, previous BMT experience preferred. Knowledge of OSU and BMT Program desirable.
