Job summary

Turner Industries seeks NCCER-certified Boilermakers/Pipefitters for Baton Rouge, LA. You will lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems and equipment. Non-exempt role; reports to Foreman; duties follow specific procedures and site safety rules.

Qualifications

• NCCER certification required.
• 1–4 years of experience in the skilled role depending on level.
• Demonstrated proficiency in construction tool use (grinders, oxy/acetylene torch).
• Rigging experience.
• A-class Pipefitter requires basic knowledge of field drawings, sketches and engineering drawings.
• Able to connect flanged pipe connections using cross-pattern bolting technique.
• Able to read a tape measure and use framing square for pipefitting tasks.
• Must properly utilize power tools to prepare pipe for cutting, welding, threading and bolting.
• A-class pipefitters must perform accurate weld connection fit ups.
• Post offer drug/alcohol screen and safety policy compliance.

Responsibilities

• Plan installation sequences to avoid obstructions and coordinate with other workers.
• Cut, thread, and bend pipe; assemble and install pipe fittings of various materials.
• Joint pipes by threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented methods.
• Secure pipe to structures using clamps, supports and hangers.
• Install and maintain refrigeration and air‑conditioning piping systems and controls.
• Test piping systems for leaks; operate power tools and adapt as needed.
• Comply with safety requirements and perform duties as directed by supervisor.

We are seeking NCCER certifiedBoilermakers /Pipefitters - Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 for work in the Baton Rouge, LA area. The position lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains piping and piping systems, fixtures and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling and industrial processing systems. Non-exempt role; Reports to the Foreman; Assigned duties according to specific procedures / work is checked frequently.

Essential Qualifications:

• High school or equivalent
• Must have NCCER certification
• One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
• Demonstrated proficiency in construction tool use (i.e. grinders, oxy/acetylene torch)
• Rigging
• A-class Pipefitter requires basic knowledge of field drawings, sketches and engineering drawings
• Have basic knowledge of how to connect flanged pipe connections using a cross pattern bolting technique
• Be able to read and utilize a tape measure properly
• Be able to understand and utilize a framing square as it is applicable to pipefitting tasks
• Must know how to properly utilize power tools to prepare pipe for cutting, welding, threading and bolting
• A-class pipefitters must be able to make accurate and precise weld connection fit ups
• Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
• Comply with company and client job site safety requirements
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Functional Requirements:

Selects and inspects proper safety gear to be used while performing work tasks; selects size and type of pipe and related material according to job specifications; inspects worksites to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain that creating holes for pipe penetration will not cause structural weakness; plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers; cuts, threads, and bends pipe; assembles and installs a variety of metal and nonmetal pipe fittings, including those made of brass, copper, lead, glass, and plastic; joins pipe by means of threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints; secures pipe to structure with clamps, brackets, supports and hangers; installs and maintains refrigeration and air-conditioning systems including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and piping; tests piping system for leaks; utilizes a variety of power tools including but not limited to, electric, pneumatic, and battery powered; perform additional assignments per supervisor\'s direction

Compensation:

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Involvement:
