Job summary

The Pete Store LLC is seeking a skilled automotive technician at our Knoxville area location to perform repairs per repair orders and dealer standards. You will document work, communicate needs to the service advisor, and ensure timely completion while maintaining vehicle condition and safety.

The role requires 2–4 years of related experience or equivalent training, with a valid driver's license and CDL preferred.

Qualifications

• Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
• Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
• Ensures customers' vehicles are kept clean and notifies advisor of changes in appearance or condition.
• Complies with regulations (hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know) and reports safety issues to management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
• Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

• Ensures that customers' vehicles are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
• Complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc. Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
• Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
• Keeps shop area neat and clean.
• Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.
• Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
• Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
• Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or body shop work is required or recommended.
• Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Two to four year’s related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and repair instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or industry

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS- preferred but not required

• Heating and Air Conditioning Certification for Commercial Truck
• State Emission Certification
• State Vehicle Inspector Certification
• Valid Driver's License
• ICAR Certification
