Job summary

Spartan Emergency Response, a Terex Corporation unit, seeks a Paint / Body Worker in its Body Shop to finish cabs and parts to Spartan’s quality standards prior to painting. You will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, performing body work and finishing tasks that meet stringent quality requirements.

Role demands 3 years of body shop experience, strong metal finishing knowledge, and the ability to work with fillers, primers, and putties.

Qualifications

• 3 years of body shop experience.
• Strong knowledge of metal finishing.
• Working knowledge of application of fillers, including polyester fillers, putties, and primers.
• Demonstrate high quality body work.
• Able to tolerate very high heat temperatures; exposure to dust and chemicals; overtime on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Perform presanding, body filler, roll prime, sanding, and metal finishing, as needed
• Lead / perform lean events
• Learn and retain skills and practices needed to complete duties in assigned area
• Wear air or form fitting respirators for extended amounts of time
• Work off ground-level, on ladders and lifts, as needed
• Read and follow detailed operator instructions, as required by a particular area
• Understand, and be able to articulate, the body shop and paint processes
• Self-check work and inspect prior processes
• Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools, as required
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Initiate process improvements
• Support 5S in work area
• Communicate with manufacturing and other cross-functional teams (engineering, materials, purchasing, sales, etcetera) to resolve issues
• Work in close proximity with customer, as needed
• Solve complex problems with minimal assistance
