Job summary

Tartan Yachts in Ohio is seeking a skilled Boat Builder to assemble hulls, decks, interiors and rigging per detailed plans. This on-site, full-time position in Painesville requires laminating fiberglass and composites, fitting and finishing structures, installing hardware, and performing inspections to ensure safety and durability.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong manual dexterity, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Prior experience in marine manufacturing, composites, or related fields is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or trade training is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and construct yacht components, including hulls, decks, interiors, and rigging per plans.
  • Laminate fiberglass and composite materials as required by specifications.
  • Fit and finish structures, install hardware, and ensure quality standards.
  • Perform inspections to ensure safety, durability and compliance with drawings.
  • Collaborate with production team members and follow shop drawings and specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere to safety procedures.

Role Description

The Boat Builder role at Tartan Yachts is a full-time, on-site position based in Painesville, OH.
