Ethos Veterinary Health is recruiting a Veterinary Internal Medicine Specialist for our Wilmington, NC location. The role focuses on managing complex internal medicine cases and leading advanced diagnostic procedures.

You will collaborate with emergency clinicians, surgeons, and a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care, while mentoring staff and pursuing professional growth within a supportive hospital culture.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent and state licensure eligibility.
• Board certification in Veterinary Internal Medicine or residency training.
• Excellent communication and collaborative care.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex internal medicine cases spanning GI, hepatobiliary, infectious disease, endocrine, hematologic, and respiratory conditions.
• Perform and interpret advanced diagnostic procedures including ultrasound, endoscopy, fluoroscopy, CT, and other imaging modalities to guide diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Collaborate closely with Emergency clinicians, surgeons, and other specialty team members for comprehensive management of shared patients and referrals.
• Coordinate consultations, referrals, and patient transfers across specialty and emergency services to ensure seamless continuity of care.
• Utilize hospital resources including ultrasound, endoscopy, digital radiography, ICU support, and specialty diagnostics to support patient outcomes.
• Build relationships with referring veterinarians through collaborative case management and proactive communication.
• Guide pet owners through complex medical conditions with empathy and transparency.
• Mentor technicians, assistants, externs, and support staff as part of daily case management.
• Pursue opportunities to expand expertise in advanced ultrasound techniques, interventional radiology, and electrochemotherapy training.
• Participate in continuing education, mentorship initiatives, and teaching opportunities.
• Contribute to a hospital culture focused on innovation, teamwork, and exceptional patient care.
