Build and Lead Your Own Dermatology Service
Veterinary Dermatologist (DACVD)
West Texas Veterinary Specialists (WTVS) is seeking a board-certified veterinary dermatologist (DACVD) to build and lead a dermatology service at our new outpatient specialty referral center opening in early 2027 in Lubbock, Texas.
WTVS is an independently owned, referral-only specialty practice created to bring advanced veterinary specialty care to an underserved region of more than 1.4 million people across West Texas and the surrounding region.
This is a unique opportunity to establish a dermatology service in a region with significant unmet demand—with the infrastructure, referral relationships, and autonomy to build the service the way you believe it should be practiced.
Rather than stepping into someone else's established program, you'll have the opportunity to shape the dermatology service from the beginning. We want our dermatologist to have meaningful input into equipment, workflow, scheduling, staffing, and how the service operates.
WTVS already serves over 150 referring veterinarians throughout West Texas and the surrounding region, including the South Plains, Texas Panhandle, Permian Basin, Big Country, Eastern New Mexico, and beyond.
Our service area includes more than 1.4 million people with limited access to veterinary specialty care. The opportunity exists to build a strong dermatology referral service while filling a significant need for veterinarians and pet owners throughout the region.
WTVS is an outpatient, referral-only specialty center. We do not accept walk-ins or non-approved emergencies.
We envision a 3–4 day clinical workweek, with flexibility if desired.
WTVS is veterinarian-owned and independently operated — not part of a large hospital system. Our goal is to create an environment where specialists have meaningful input into how they practice medicine and how their individual services develop.
For the right long-term candidate, we are open to discussing a pathway to ownership and a meaningful role in the future growth of WTVS.
Our new Lubbock specialty referral center is being designed specifically for advanced specialty and procedural care and will include:
Dermatology-specific equipment and workspace will be developed in collaboration with the dermatologist joining the practice.
We are seeking a board-certified veterinary dermatologist (DACVD) who wants more than simply another associate position.
The ideal candidate is interested in developing a high-quality dermatology service, establishing long-term relationships with referring veterinarians, and having meaningful input into how their service grows.
We welcome experienced dermatologists at any stage of their career who are interested in helping build something new.
DACVD board certification is required.
Full-time, part-time, and locum arrangements are welcome.
