Job summary

Community Autism Services (CAS) is seeking a School-Based BCBA to support PreK and Elementary programs in San Francisco. The role emphasizes a consultative, capacity-building approach with educators, families, and students, focusing on sustaining strong behavioral programming.

You’ll work with CAS BCBAs, receive mentorship, and deliver effective FBAs, BIPs, and data-driven interventions within a supportive, school-based team.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, or related field.
  • Current BCBA certification in good standing.
  • Minimum of 2+ years ABA experience in school-based or educational settings (PreK–Elementary).
  • Experience conducting FBAs, writing BIPs, and coaching or supporting RBTs in a consultative capacity.
  • Strong collaboration and communication with school personnel and families.
  • Commitment to ethical, student-centered care.

Responsibilities

Role Overview

As a School-Based BCBA at CAS, you'll take a consultative, capacity-building approach to supporting PreK and Elementary programs in San Francisco - partnering with a team of BCBAs and the school's RBTs to sustain strong behavioral programming, support IEP teams, and build lasting internal capacity among school staff.

This role is ideal for BCBAs who thrive in consultative, team-based settings, enjoy building the capacity of others, and want to make a meaningful impact within a well-established school-based program.

What You'll Do
  • Conduct comprehensive Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and develop individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for PreK and Elementary caseloads
  • Utilize a range of assessments (e.g., VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, AFLS, SSIS) to identify strengths and learning needs
  • Collect, analyze, and apply behavioral data to guide decision-making and monitor progress
  • Ensure fidelity of implementation through ongoing data review and program adjustments
  • Coach and model evidence-based behavioral strategies for teachers, instructional assistants, and support staff
  • Partner with a team of BCBAs to coach and build the capacity of RBTs and behavior technicians - a consultative role without direct supervisory responsibility
  • Collaborate with special education teams, administrators, and families to support generalization and long-term success
  • Serve as a consultant to IEP teams, contributing to student-centered behavioral programming
  • Deliver professional development sessions, workshops, and classroom-based trainings
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation aligned with district and regulatory standards
  • Implement proactive behavior support and crisis prevention strategies
  • Provide in-the-moment guidance and debriefing during behavioral escalation
