Job summary

Elwyn seeks a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to conduct functional behavior assessments, train staff, and evaluate intervention effectiveness within our New Jersey programs.

The ideal candidate holds a BCBA certification, a Master’s degree in psychology or related field, and at least 1 year of experience supporting individuals with autism and intellectual/developmental disabilities. CPR and strong communication skills are required.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Psychology or related field.
  • Certified BCBA.
  • 1 year experience providing behavior support to individuals with autism and ID.
  • Experience in a unionized workforce preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

  • Performs behavioral assessments and evaluations.
  • Supervises assigned staff in recruitment, leadership, coaching and performance management.
  • Observes and collects data in residential/day programs for behavior referrals.
  • Develops and assesses behavior plans to address problem behavior.
  • Provides staff training on behavior support and ABA techniques.
  • Maintains written evaluations of treatment effectiveness.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY: The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) conducts functional behavior assessments in order to develop and train staff to implement within the designated program and assesses the effectiveness of the behavior intervention(s).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs appropriate behavioral assessments and evaluation
  • Provides supervision of assigned staff in the areas including, but not limited to, recruitment, selection, leadership, coaching, training, performance management, promotion, discipline and termination
  • Conducts observations and collects data in the residential/day program setting for assigned behavior referral
  • Develops, approves, and assesses behavior plans to address problem behavior in the residential/day program
  • Provides ongoing consultation services and training to direct care professionals, program supervisors, and program coordinators on behavior support and techniques
  • Provides a monthly written evaluation on the effectiveness of behavior treatment plan
  • Serves on the Behavior Management Committee
  • Provides training and assists staff in Safe Crisis Management and De-escalation
  • Provides staff training for dementia, autism, and polydipsia and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
  • Maintains current state-mandated training and certifications
  • Follows all current policies and procedures of Elwyn New Jersey
  • Cooperates with Elwyn New Jersey and the State of New Jersey Department of Human Services, or any other authorized investigating body during an inspection or investigation
  • Works with, understands, and complies with terms and conditions of collective bargaining agreements (CBA) within a unionized environment with tasks including but not limited to adherence to scheduling procedures, processing transfers and promotions, administering disciplinary actions, adjudicating grievances, where appropriate, etc.
  • Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), crisis intervention and medication administration using agency-trained protocols
  • Assumes rotational management on call as scheduled
  • Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in Psychology or related field from accredited college or university
  • Certified as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • One (1) year experience in providing behavior support services to individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism
  • Previous experience working within and managing a unionized workforce preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated strong time management, flexibility, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions
  • Ability to be flexible
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Must be able to perform CPR using agency-trained protocols
  • Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required; and report-writer experience preferred
  • Experience using/knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) / Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred
  • Must submit to a criminal background check and be determined to be not disqualified by the New Jersey Department of Human Services prior to working with individuals served
  • Must agree to have their name checked against the New Jersey Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities and NJ Child Abuse Registry (CARI)
  • Must possess a current, valid driver's license in state of residence, have a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience within the United States, and have an acceptable driving record
