Job summary

Foster Farms seeks a wastewater technician to operate treatment and sludge de-watering systems, monitor samples, and record chemical inventories. You will also manage data entry, perform routine safety tasks, and support QA and USDA compliance in a fast-paced environment.

Role requires high school diploma, ability to lift 50+ lbs, clean driving record, and willingness to work rotating shifts including weekends. Training in lock-out tag-out and safety practices provided.

Qualifications

  • Six (6) months of experience in the operation of wastewater treatment plant solids de-watering equipment.
  • Knowledge of hazardous chemical handling and use in wastewater treatment.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools (grinder, drill, etc.).
  • Good written and oral English communications skills.
  • Demonstrated dependability with regard to safety and attendance.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts & weekends.
  • Clean DMV record and valid California driver’s license; maintain a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Lock-out tag-out and safe work practices training.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, walk and stand for long periods.
  • Ability to climb and work from ladders and in confined spaces safely.
  • Ability to work at heights, catwalks and roofs.
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work on wet concrete floors.
  • Able to work overtime as production requires.
  • Pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Control wastewater treatment systems to keep effluent within defined limits.
  • Operate sludge de-watering equipment for maximum solids separation.
  • Interpret samples from DAF cells, tanks, effluent, centrifuge and presses; adjust chemical feed and process systems.
  • Enter collected data into the computer.
  • Record inventory of DAF chemicals on a rotation basis.
  • Periodically spot sludge trucks.
  • Support quality and food safety, complying with company standards and USDA requirements.
  • General cleaning and assist other crews as needed.
  • Maintain safety, housekeeping and sanitation in all duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay Rate: $30.00 per hour

(Additional $1.00 per hour for hours worked between 7:00pm and 11:59pm. Additional $2.00 per hour worked between 12:00am-4:59am)

Job Description
  • Control wastewater treatment systems to ensure the effluent water to the industrial ponds are within the defined limits.
  • Control sludge de-watering equipment to ensure maximum separation of solids and water.
  • Interpret samples drawn from DAF cells, solids tank, effluent water, centrifuge and belt presses and make adjustments to chemical feed and process systems to produce desired results.
  • Enter collected data into the computer.
  • Accurately record inventory of DAF chemicals on a rotation basis
  • Truck spot sludge truck periodically
  • Help maintain and improve quality and food safety, to ensure compliance with company quality standards and USDA regulatory requirements.
  • General cleaning and/or assisting other crews if required
  • Maintain safety, housekeeping and sanitation and disease control requirements while performing job duties
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

  • Must have knowledge of hazardous chemical handling, to include experience in and knowledge of the use of chemicals in the treatment of industrial wastewater.
  • Must be able to use hand and power tools (such as grinder, drill, etc.)
  • Must have good written and oral English communications skills
  • Must have a demonstrated work history of dependability, particularly with regard to safety and attendance
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts & weekends
  • Must be able to pass written tests
  • Must have clean DMV record and valid California driver's license; must maintain a clean driving record
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be trained in lock-out tag-out and safe work practices
  • Must be able to bend, stoop walk and stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to climb and work from ladders and in confined spaces safely
