Job summary

UConn Health seeks a Nursing Leader to manage the Blood and Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy program. You will supervise nursing and ancillary staff, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to accreditation standards in a major academic medical center.

Collaborating with physicians, leadership, and regulatory bodies, you will drive clinical operations, staff development, and service-line growth while maintaining fiscal stewardship and program excellence.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program and five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in the delivery of direct clinical healthcare services.
  • Three (3) years of the General Experience must have included experience in hematology, oncology, stem cell transplant, or cellular therapy programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manages nursing operations and program activities for the Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy program, ensuring alignment with organizational, clinical, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
  • Serves as the program's nursing authority and subject matter expert, directing the interpretation and application of transplant processes, cellular therapy protocols, standards of care, evidence-based practices, and applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Plans, coordinates, and manages program activities in collaboration with nursing leadership, program leadership, physicians, advanced practice providers, coordinators, quality personnel, and other multidisciplinary stakeholders.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of program goals, objectives, strategic priorities, and performance initiatives related to nursing practice, clinical operations, quality, patient safety, staff development, and service-line growth.
  • Identifies and resolves routine operational issues.
  • Collaborate with the BMT Program leadership to develop, implement, evaluate, and recommend policies, procedures, standards, and clinical practice guidelines governing program nursing practice.
  • Interprets and administers applicable laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies, including the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), Joint Commission, and other applicable requirements.
  • Directs and coordinates nursing program activities necessary to maintain ongoing compliance and accreditation readiness.
  • Directs the development, implementation, and evaluation of education, orientation, competency validation, continuing education, and clinical practice resources for nursing, other clinical and non-clinical personnel, and patients.
  • Maintains effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders including physicians, nursing leaders, clinical staff, hospital leadership, regulatory and accrediting organizations, and community or industry partners.
  • Monitors and analyzes program, clinical, quality, operational, and outcome data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensures effective coordination of patient-centered care and support services, identifying barriers to care and implementing strategies to improve patient outcomes and experience.
  • Assists in preparation, tracking, and reconciliation of the program budget and recommends and implements strategies for fiscal stewardship, cost containment, and effective resource utilization.
  • Assists in the selection, acquisition, allocation, and appropriate utilization of equipment, supplies, space, technology, and other resources necessary to support operations.
  • Implements strategic initiatives, service-line growth opportunities, and operational priorities.
  • Performs related duties as required.
