An advanced materials manufacturer is building out its internal polymer film capabilities to support growing demand across architectural surfaces, specialty laminates, and engineered decorative products. This is a highly technical, fast-paced environment where material science is directly tied to real production performance.

This role sits at the intersection of polymer development and manufacturing execution—taking material concepts and making them run on the floor.

The Development Specialist will work hands‑on with film extrusion processes, focused on materials such as PETG, PMMA (acrylic), and polycarbonate. The work involves running trials, evaluating how these materials behave under real extrusion conditions, and dialing in processing windows that translate into consistent, scalable production.

This is not a lab‑only role. It requires direct involvement with extrusion equipment—adjusting temperature profiles, drying conditions, and process parameters in real time to drive film quality and performance.

You’ll lead material trials, support new product introductions, troubleshoot defects tied to material behavior, and work closely with process engineering to ensure what’s developed can actually run at production scale.

What You Need (non-negotiables)

• Hands‑on experience with film extrusion (not coatings, not compounding—film)
• Direct experience with PETG, PMMA, or polycarbonate
• Strong understanding of how polymers behave through the extrusion process
• Ability to diagnose and correct film defects tied to material/process interaction
• Experience with startup, ramp‑up, or dialing in new lines
• Background running trials and converting data into actionable process changes
• Comfortable working on the floor, not behind a desk
• Exposure to decorative, laminate, or specialty film applications is a plus
