Job summary

Amcor is seeking a Blow Molding Process Specialist to support PET bottle production. The role collaborates with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure safe, efficient manufacturing while protecting proprietary technologies.

The candidate will troubleshoot equipment, optimize processes, and participate in mold changes, start-ups, and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple sites as needed, including travel to support initiatives.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Plastics Technology, or related technical field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in PET blow molding operations or process support in manufacturing.
• Experience with blow molding systems such as Sidel, Krones, Sipa, or similar equipment preferred.

Position Overview:

The Blow Molding Process Specialist provides technical expertise and process support for PET blow molding operations within beverage and specialty container manufacturing environments. This role supports production stability, process optimization, container quality, and equipment reliability. The specialist works closely with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent manufacturing of PET containers. This position may operate as an on‑site technical resource and serves as a key liaison between plant operations and Amcor Asset Excellence, engineering, and technical teams. This role requires hands‑on troubleshooting, process optimization, and technical leadership to maintain Best‑in‑Class (BIC) processing conditions while protecting proprietary manufacturing technologies.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Process Support & Optimization

• Establish, maintain, and optimize processing parameters to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality bottle production.
• Develop and maintain process setup sheets and operating parameters for production containers.
• Monitor process performance and assist operations teams in maintaining established process conditions.
• Analyze production and test data to validate container performance against specifications.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and production reliability.

Mold Changes & Process Start‑Up

• Participate in mold changes including oven setup verification and process readiness.
• Assist with process start‑ups to ensure stable bottle production.
• Identify mechanical or maintenance issues that may impact processing performance.

Container Quality & Validation

• Produce sample containers for evaluation by quality and maintenance teams.
• Collaborate with quality personnel to measure and validate container physical characteristics.
• Review test data against Tentative Performance Specifications.
• Recommend process adjustments or design modifications when necessary to meet performance requirements.

Equipment Reliability & Troubleshooting

• Troubleshoot and resolve processing issues involving blow molding equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical issues affecting production.
• Assist maintenance teams in resolving recurring container defects or process‑related equipment issues.
• Support preventive maintenance activities related to process‑critical equipment.

Operational Support & Training

• Provide technical guidance to operators on machine operation, process adjustments, and defect identification.
• Assist in developing work instructions and training materials that promote consistent operating practices.
• Support operator training related to process control, quality monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Technical Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Serve as a technical liaison between plant operations and Amcor engineering and Asset Excellence teams.
• Support new bottle trials, product validations, and process improvement initiatives.
• Participate in root cause analysis of container performance or production issues.
• Contribute to development of best practices that improve safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

Multi‑Site Technical Support

• Provide technical support for additional Amcor manufacturing locations as required.
• Assist with start‑ups, troubleshooting, validations, and project support at other facilities.
• Travel as necessary to support operational or technical initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Plastics Technology, or related technical field preferred. 5+ years of experience in PET blow molding operations or process support within a manufacturing environment. Experience with beverage or packaging manufacturing preferred. Experience with blow molding systems such as Sidel, Krones, Sipa, or similar equipment is a plus. Technical Skills Strong knowledge of PET blow molding theory and processing principles. Ability to read and interpret pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical schematics. Experience troubleshooting low to high voltage electrical systems. Strong mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting skills. Proficiency using computers and related software for documentation, process monitoring, and troubleshooting. Professional Skills Strong problem‑solving and root cause analysis capabilities. Effective communication and collaboration skills across operations, maintenance, and engineering teams. Ability to work independently while supporting cross‑functional teams. Strong organizational and decision‑making skills in fast‑paced manufacturing environments.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 1,000 pounds using a hydraulic hand jack (equivalent to approximately 70 pounds of static push/pull force).
• Ability to frequently lift up to 75 pounds from ground level to overhead.
• Ability to frequently carry up to 60 pounds for short distances (approximately 10 feet).
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours per shift, on concrete flooring.
• Ability to work 8-hour shifts on day or night schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Ability to perform physical movements including bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching, grasping, and fine finger manipulation.

• Ability to travel up to 25%
