Job summary

The American Red Cross is hiring for a Distribution Technician to receive, process, pack and ship life-saving blood products for hospital orders. You will triage orders by date, select and pack products with proper temperature control, and communicate with hospital clients, volunteers, and vendors.

Responsibilities include inventory management, data entry, and ensuring traceability of manufacturing records.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW?

You will be responsible for receiving, processing, packing and shipping blood products/samples for hospital orders. You will triage the order based on the required date and time, select, and carefully pack life-saving blood products with the correct temperature-regulating product to ensure safe transport. You will communicate with hospital clients, volunteers, and vendors, and maintain product records to preserve traceability. As a Red Cross Team member, you will take care of your team members – show up for every shift and give 100% while you’re there. Interact in a positive, proactive, and customer-focused manner with both internal and external customers, demonstrating care and compassion at all times.

• The aforementioned responsibilities of the Distribution Technician describe the general nature and level of work and are not an exhaustive list.

Standard Schedule:

2nd shift: 1 pm - 9:30 pm Mon-Friday, rotating on call every 4th week, some weekends and holidays required. This is a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week facility.

Pay Information:

$ 18.36 an hour plus an additional 2.25/ hour for hours worked after 3 pm.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Two years’ experience in a regulatory, distribution or manufacturing environment is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Good computer skills, attention to detail, accurate documentation, and good decision-making skills.
• The ability to work on a team, and provide excellent customer service
• Requires a valid driver’s license, and a good driving record

Physical Requirements:

• Requires standing, stretching, stooping and bending for extended time periods.
• Lift, pull, push and move objects of up to 50 pounds.
• May work in walk-in refrigerator/freezers for periods of time.
• May be required to wear protective clothing such as lab coats, gloves, face shields, etc.
