Job summary

The American Red Cross is hiring a Blood Product Storage and Distribution Technician in Columbus, OH. You will receive, process, pack and ship blood products and samples for hospital orders, triaging based on required time and temperature, and maintaining traceable records.

You will coordinate with hospital clients, volunteers, and vendors, ensuring proper handling, storage, and timely delivery while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years’ experience in regulatory, distribution or manufacturing environment preferred; or equivalent education/experience.
  • Good computer skills, attention to detail, accurate documentation and good decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure products/samples are suitable for release for distribution, while meeting production goals.
  • Perform inventory management across manufacturing and shipping processes.
  • Prioritize workload to meet production and customer requirements.
  • Perform data entry related to manufacturing, labeling, storage, ordering, and shipping; maintain records.
  • Analyze and make decisions based on visuals and information from other departments to meet time and quality standards.
  • Identify and quarantine products/samples that don’t meet requirements; disposition of unacceptable product.
  • May perform hospital deliveries as assigned.

You will triage the order based on date and time needed, select and carefully pack life-saving blood products with the correct temperature regulating product to ensure safe transport. You will communicate with hospital clients, volunteers, and vendors, and maintain product records to preserve traceability. There is a weekend premium of $2.00 per hour.****WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:* * High School diploma or equivalent* Two years’ experience in a regulatory, distribution or manufacturing environment is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience* Good computer skills, attention to detail, accurate documentation, and good decision-making skills.* Position may require a valid driver’s license*Physical Requirements:* Requires standing, stretching, stooping and bending for extended time periods. Lift, pull, push and move objects of up to 50 pounds. May work in walk-in refrigerator/freezers for periods of time.
