The American Red Cross in Arlington, Texas is hiring for a phlebotomy role with paid training. You will assist with the blood collection process, prepare equipment, and help ensure a welcoming donor environment. No prior medical experience required as training is provided.

You will collaborate with a team to transport and set up at collection sites, follow safety procedures, and support donors through the process. Starting rate is $19.50 per hour, with potential increases based on experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
• A current, valid driver's license with good driving record is required.
• Physical requirements may include lifting, pushing or pulling heavy weights and standing long hours.
• Minimum height of 60 inches to operate vehicles may be required.
• Experience with mobile blood drives and teamwork in setup/teardown is common.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is expected.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

When you join our team you will be utilizing your healthcare and/or customer service skills to assist with every step of the blood collection process. This includes collaborating with your team to transport and setup equipment at the collection sites in local communities, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteer donors, and following all safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations that are delivered to hospitals. WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

• Take the time to personally connect with donors – listen to their stories and help them understand how impactful their donation is.
• Collaborate with your teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment so our volunteer donors feel comfortable coming back again and again.
• Be detailed oriented all day, every day. This ensures that the blood you collect meets goals, regulatory requirements and can be safely transfused
• May drive Red Cross vehicles and you will work with the team to setup and tear down equipment at the donation sites.
• Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to ensure the ability to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.

Standard Schedule (Arlington, Texas):

To best meet the needs of our donors and community, staff work a variable schedule which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Overnight travel may be required in some locations. Schedule is provided two to three weeks in advance

Pay Information

Starting Rate: $19.50/hour. Pay may increase depending on experience

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required
• A current, valid driver's license with good driving record is required.
• Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes is required.
• Position may require minimum height of 60 inches to ensure the ability to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
• At the American Red Cross, we conduct many mobile blood drives at businesses, schools, and many other locations.
• All staff work as a team to setup and tear down the equipment required to conduct a mobile blood drive.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft office applications.

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU THE COMPETITIVE EDGE (Preferred Qualifications):

• Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish preferred, other languages a plus)
• Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.)
• Prior leadership experience
