Job summary

American Red Cross in Columbia, South Carolina is seeking a motivated individual to join our phlebotomy team. No prior medical experience is required because paid training is provided.

You will help donors through the process, set up equipment, and ensure a welcoming, safe environment while collecting lifesaving blood donations. A valid driver’s license and basic computer skills are required. The position offers opportunities for growth within a leading humanitarian network.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills required.
  • Basic computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • DOT certification is required or must be obtainable where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Take time to connect with donors, listen to their stories and explain the impact of their donation.
  • Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming environment for donors to return.
  • Be detailed oriented to ensure collected blood meets goals and regulatory requirements.
  • May drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setup/teardown at donation sites.
  • Position may require minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate vehicles.
