Job summary

The American Red Cross in Waterloo, IA is seeking individuals to begin a career in phlebotomy with paid training and no prior medical experience required. You will support blood collection teams, welcome donor volunteers, transport equipment, and help ensure a safe, comfortable donation environment while following safety procedures.

The role offers a starting rate of $18.10 per hour, a variable schedule including early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays, and a comprehensive benefits package

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
• A current, valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required.
• Physical requirements may include lifting, pushing or pulling heavy weights and standing for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Drive blood collection vehicles to transport supplies, equipment, blood products and staff to mobile sites.
• Load and unload trucks and other vehicles.
• Interact with donors to create a welcoming environment and encourage return visits.
• Ensure the blood you collect meets goals and regulatory requirements.
• Set up and tear down equipment at donation sites.
• Follow safety procedures at all times.

Overnight travel may be required in some locations.* Schedule is provided two to three weeks in advance ***Pay Information:*** Starting rate $18.10/hour **WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):** * High school diploma or equivalent is required* Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required* A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.* Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes are required. Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to ensure the ability to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.* At the American Red Cross, we conduct many mobile blood drives at businesses, schools and many other locations. All staff work as a team to setup and tear down the equipment required to conduct a mobile blood drive.* Basic computer skills are required.
