Job summary

Coinbase is hiring a Software Engineer to join the CB Node team within the Platform organization. This role focuses on performance analysis, optimization, and building observability and failover capabilities for blockchain nodes.

You will work across Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana, and more, driving efficiency, reliability, and capacity planning while collaborating with protocol integration, wallet, and indexer teams. This position offers a remote-first environment with quarterly in-person surges.

Qualifications

2+ years of software engineering with performance analysis/optimization experience.
Experience operating distributed systems and diagnosing bottlenecks.
Proficiency in backend programming (Go preferred) and observability tooling.
Demonstrated ability to improve infrastructure efficiency through optimization.
Exposure to blockchain nodes or crypto infrastructure is a plus.
Knowledge of AI-assisted workflows with human oversight.

Responsibilities

Own performance analysis and optimization of the blockchain node stack.
Build observability, health-check, and automated failover for nodes.
Right-size node fleet and develop capacity models balancing cost and reliability.
Collaborate with protocol integration, wallet, and indexer teams to extend improvements.
Support SLOs/SLIs for node services and measurement frameworks.
Support protocol upgrades and node operations with a performance-first lens.
