Job summary

Second Nature Brands LLC is seeking a Blending Operator at the Kar’s Nuts facility in Madison Heights, MI. You will blend trail mixes per recipes, operate a standing Hi-Lo truck, and document production steps using our computer systems.

The role supports growth from $500M to $1B with a shift-based schedule and overtime as needed. Starting pay is $17.50/hour plus a $1.00 shift premium, with full-time benefits including PTO, insurance, and a 401(k) plan with company match.

Job description

Second Nature Brands is on a mission to grow from $500M to $1B over the next 2 years through an aggressive combination of M&A and organic growth. We have an opening for a Blending Operator position, who will be an important member of the supply chain team during this growth.

Kar’s Nuts Products facility located at 1200 East 14 Mile in Madison Heights, Michigan.

A Blending Mixer is a vital member of our production team, assists in creating blends for our famous Kars and Second Nature products. The Mixer is responsible for ensuring recipe weights are measured and added correctly according to production requirements. A Mixing Operator must also be computer proficient, as they are required to access various programs, follow established work processes, properly consume/discard ingredients, and accurately document production activities.

Regular working hours are Monday through Friday, 3:00pm to 11:00pm with weekday or weekend overtime as needed. The starting rate is $17.50 per hour plus $1.00 shift premium.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include

• Safely and effectively operate Standing Hi-Lo truck
• Conduct quick math skills to ensure consistent results
• Safely continually lift boxes up to 50lbs without incident
• Use computerized system to look up the specific trail mix combinations and calculate the order totals to be made for the day
• Test product to determine what’s within quality standards of sale or to be recorded and discarded
• Support sustainability goals by safeguarding ingredient requirements and regulating temperature levels to reduce waste
• Conduct consistent updates to tracking logs for inventory, quality checks, order schedule, waste management, and more
• Calculate and log the differences in inventory-equipment, fresh, raw, roasted, melted etc product to ensure proper blend
• Follow exact blending plan to ensure consistency
• Adhere to FDA, SQF (Quality & Food Safety), and OSHA Safety policies
• Follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
• Maintain clean and safe work area
• Preform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma/equivalency
• Ability to operate Hi-Lo truck standing and sitting (required)
• Must have and prove basic math and computer skills
• Must be able to read and write in English proficiently
• Must be able to pay close attention to detail
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements

• Standing for 8-10 hrs
• Walking up and down stairs
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly
• Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) provided by company.

Work Environment

• While performing the duties of this job, you will regularly work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be high.
