Job summary

Position Summary

The Blasting Technician supports manufacturing and production operations by performing technical and production tasks while learning equipment, processes, quality requirements, and safety procedures. This role works under close supervision and is responsible for contributing to safe, efficient, and high-quality operations. The Blasting Technician demonstrates a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and commitment to continuous development while supporting EDLON's operational goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment by following established safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Immediately report all safety incidents, near misses, hazards, and concerns in accordance with company procedures.
  • Support compliance with all EDLON safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Consistently perform work in a safe, professional, and responsible manner.
Quality Management
  • Deliver quality workmanship aligned with customer requirements and operational standards.
  • Follow established work instructions, specifications, and quality requirements during production activities.
  • Identify and report quality concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Support quality initiatives and corrective actions as directed.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of quality documents, work instructions, blueprints, and specifications.
Production & Operations
  • Perform basic manufacturing and production tasks under close supervision.
  • Support daily shop operations and assist with production activities as assigned.
  • Learn and apply standard operating procedures, manufacturing processes, and work instructions.
  • Accurately complete production documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with material handling, workplace organization, and operational support activities.
  • Participate in training and developmental activities to build technical skills and manufacturing knowledge.
Technical Development
  • Learn to safely operate tools, equipment, and machinery within assigned work centers.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge and capability in the use of tools and equipment required for assigned tasks.
  • Develop an understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and production techniques.
  • Seek guidance and apply feedback from supervisors and experienced technicians.
  • Demonstrate initiative and eagerness to develop new skills and technical capabilities.
  • Progressively increase knowledge of quality systems, safety procedures, and operational requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and support functions to achieve production goals.
  • Follow direction from supervisors, team leaders, and senior technicians.
  • Support effective communication and teamwork within the production environment.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, and accountability in completing assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; technical education or vocational training preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing experience, preferably with sand blasting, metal preparation and metal coatings.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and develop technical skills in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and shop operations.
  • Basic knowledge of quality documents, technical drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Basic knowledge and capability to use tools and equipment within assigned work centers.
  • Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and established workflows.
  • Ability to work effectively under close supervision while developing independence and technical proficiency.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong self-starter with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to learn new skills, processes, equipment, and operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand, walk, bend, and perform production-related activities for extended periods.
  • Lift and move materials in accordance with company safety guidelines
  • Safely operate production equipment, tools, and machinery following training and qualification requirements.
