PSG in San Diego, a global pump, metering and dispensing-solution expert and part of Dover Corporation, seeks a Blackmer Pump Technician. Under general supervision, you will evaluate, modify, repair, and rebuild Blackmer pump products with ~80% shop and 10% field work and 10% admin.

Duties include inspections, maintenance, shipping duties, and safety compliance. This role requires a high school diploma and 2+ years in pump repair, with military experience preferred and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent; 2+ years’ experience in pump repair.

  • Read and interpret technical procedures, drawings, and contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, open and rebuild pump units following Blackmer drawings.
  • Maintain tools, safety equipment and perform routine maintenance.
  • Operate hand and power tools to repair and assemble equipment.
  • Handle shipping/receiving, inventory audits, and gross workload.
  • Observe safety rules; participate in clean, organized workspace; overtime as needed.

Recognized for our entrepreneurial approach for over 65 years, our team of over 24,000 employees takes an ownership mindset, collaborating with customers to redefine what's possible.**Position Summary:** Under general supervision, the Blackmer Pump Technician evaluates, modifies, repairs, and rebuilds Blackmer pump products.This position will involve approximately 80% Shop and 10% in field repair activity and 10% administration activity.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*** Conducts pump, unit open/ inspections, and rebuild in accordance with Blackmer drawings and process* Maintains tools, safety equipment, instruments, and materials, specific to pump, motor, and equipment maintenance and repairs* Operates a variety of equipment including hand and power tools as needed to construct, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment. Maintains and cares for all equipment and tools. Performs cleaning, lubricating of tools as required.* Performs Shipping and Receiving duties that includes creating shipping labels for government furnished material (GFM), receiving parts and conducting inventory audits* Operates forklifts* Constructs plywood shipping boxes* Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with co-workers, outside partners, i.e. Government Inspectors* Properly store, use, and dispose of waste/ HAZMAT, scrap metal in accordance with posted Local/ State regulations and Company policy* Paint and prime product per customer and government specifications/ contracts* Maintains regular attendance and adherence to prescribed work schedule to conduct job responsibilities* Works overtime as required with advance approval from manager* Observes safe work practices and safety methods, follows all safety rules and Lock-out/Tag-out procedures* Maintains a clean and orderly workstation* Performs duties in a professional manner and teams well with others.* Performs other duties as assigned**Qualifications/Requirements:*** High School diploma or equivalent, 2 + years' experience in pump repair* Military experience highly preferred* Ability to be granted military base access* Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record* Working knowledge of all tools and measuring devices required for pump repair* Ability to read and write in English* Able to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures or governmental regulations* Ability to write basic reports and business correspondence* Effectively communicate by responding to questions from groups of managers, engineers, and other customers* Ability to understand and apply basic math principles* Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form* Read and interpret drawings technical information and government contracts* Proficient in all Shop Processes and Procedures**Supervisory Responsibilities: None****Desired Characteristics/ Skills:*** Technical problem-solving skills.* Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Word, Excel* Reasoning ability to interpret Variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and Scheduling forms* Clear, concise and articulate verbal, written, listening and interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization* Ability to manage multiple and competing projects involving both internal customers* Impeccable organization and efficiency skills; strong attention to detail* Interfaces with wide array of individuals, balances multiple tasks and maintains positive attitude and energy* Strong team player, work ethic and commitment to win**Physical Demands:*** Employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear* Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel* Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance**Work Environment:** * The environment is primarily in a controlled climate office and warehouse setting but will require time on the shop floor.
