Do you love interacting with people? Are you a social person? If so, the Courtyard/TownePlace Suites Suffolk Chesapeake has a position for you. We are currently looking for an energetic and outgoing person to join our food and beverage team as a Bistro Attendant.

Overview

The Restaurant Server will take food and beverage orders, retrieve and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and food orders to guest tables according to hotel specifications, courteously and efficiently. He/she will collect payments and assist in the maintenance of the restaurant area and equipment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Check with customers to ensure they are enjoying their meals and address any issues.
  • Collect payments from customers.
  • Write patrons' food orders on slips, memorize, or enter orders into computers for the kitchen.
  • Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and taxes.
  • Take orders from patrons for food or beverages.
  • Check IDs to ensure minimum age for alcohol consumption.
  • Serve food or beverages, and prepare or serve specialty dishes as needed.
  • Present menus and answer questions, making recommendations.
  • Clean tables or counters after dining.
  • Prepare drinks and chill bottles of wine.
  • Set up food stations and dining areas.
  • Inform customers of daily specials.
  • Stock supplies in service areas.
  • Explain menu items and cooking methods.
  • Set up tables with linens, silverware, and glassware.
  • Clear dishes and glasses after use.
  • Assist hosts with reservations, greeting, seating, and thanking guests.
  • Perform cleaning duties around the restaurant.
  • Serve wine with appropriate glasses and pour for customers.
  • Assist in food prep like salads, desserts, and coffee.
  • Escort customers to their tables.
  • Garnish and decorate dishes.
  • Refill condiments and napkins.
  • Describe and recommend wines.
  • Provide local area information and directions.
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Good understanding of English and guest relations training.
  • Certification in liquor, wine, and food service preferred.
  • Must be TIPS, CARE, or equivalent certified by first day.
  • Ability to use property management and POS systems.
