Job summary

Southwest Tennessee Community College is seeking a part-time Adjunct Faculty member in Biotechnology to deliver instruction across the Natural Sciences Department at SWTCC campuses. The pay is $640 per credit hour, with postings reviewed term-by-term and yearly re-application required.

Responsibilities include planning, presenting, and evaluating courses; maintaining office hours; advising students; and participating in committees.

Qualifications

• 18 graduate semester hours in biology, biotechnology, microbiology or related field plus a Master's degree or Master’s degree in biology/biotechnology.
• Ability to teach day, evening, or weekend classes at multiple SWTCC locations.
• Coordinate, plan, prepare, present and evaluate classroom instruction and related activities.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and delivers biotechnology instruction.
• Evaluates and grades student work and communicates progress.
• Develops curricula, syllabi, and handouts.
• Maintains office hours and assists with recruitment and retention.
• Maintains attendance records and FERPA compliance.
• Attends faculty meetings and participates in college committees.
• Keeps current in the field by reading literature and attending conferences.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
