Job summary

Metaphore Biotechnologies, Inc. seeks a hands-on Director/Senior Director Finance to own accounting and finance across portfolio companies. Reporting to the CFO, you will lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash runway planning, guiding early-stage ventures toward scalable financial operations.

The role requires strong US GAAP expertise, multi-entity experience, and the ability to thrive without a large team, building robust finance processes and collaborating with scientific leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred.
• 7–12 years of progressive finance experience with experience as a controller/finance head in biotech or life sciences.
• Sole or lead finance hire at an early-stage, venture-backed company is highly favorable.
• Proficiency with NetSuite or comparable ERP systems.
• Ability to own both the accounting close and financial planning functions.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end accounting close processes with GAAP-compliant reporting.
• Manage general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, equity, treasury across entities.
• Track monthly spend; provide visibility by department, program, vendor.
• Develop policies reflecting company stage, moving toward public readiness.
• Build and maintain annual budgets and cash runway forecasts; provide leadership with insights.
• Produce monthly leadership and Board reports translating numbers to business context.
• Support rolling forecasts, program-level spend and ad hoc analyses.
• Assist CFO with long-range financial planning and fundraising materials.
• Develop KPI dashboards for management and Boards.
• Scale the finance function as the company grows.
