Job summary

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine seeks a Biostatistician II to provide statistical support for HIV and other infectious disease studies under the DCAC. The role covers programming, analysis, and reporting for clinical trials and observational research.

You will work with SAS and R, contribute to analysis plans, interpret results, and help prepare summaries and visualizations for study reports, while maintaining data quality and regulatory awareness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in statistics/biostatistics/epidemiology with 6–8 years experience, or Master's with 3–5 years.
• Experience with SAS and R.
• Experience with large clinical/laboratory data and CDISC/SDTM mapping.

Responsibilities

• Provide programming for data extraction, logic checks, queries, listings, statistics, reports, and analytic data sets.

Job Description

HJF is seeking a Biostatistician II to provide biostatistical support for clinical and/or laboratory research. This involves performing statistical analysis on data collected from clinical trials and/or research studies. This position will be in support of the Data Coordinating and Analysis Center (DCAC). DCAC is an in-house centralized resource for clinical data management, biostatistical analysis, reporting, and training in support of clinical trials and other scientific research. The Biostatistician II will provide statistical programming and analysis support for new and ongoing HIV and other emerging infectious disease studies conducted by the U.S. Military HIV Research Program involving clinical observational research, laboratory research, and clinical trials. This position may provide statistical programming and analysis support to other programs such as the Viral Diseases Program other programs affiliated with the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. Responsibilities

• Provide programming for data extraction, logic checks and queries, data listings, summary statistics, statistical analyses, reports, tabulations, and analytical data sets.
• Read research protocols and integrate protocol design requirements into programming objectives and review setup of studies in data management system to accomplish programming tasks.
• Assists with the development of statistical analysis plans and planned safety reports.
• Participates in the analysis, and reporting of research studies, including clinical trials and observational cohorts to advance scientific knowledge in HIV and other emerging infectious diseases.
• Conducts statistical analyses of clinical trial and cohort data, including laboratory measures, using appropriate statistical software (e.g., SAS and/or R), and provides summaries, interpretations, and presentation of statistical results in written, tabular, and visual formats as needed to support reporting goals.
• Recommends and implements changes as needed.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
• Maintains knowledge of current statistical analysis and programming trends in clinical research.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or a related field and a minimum of 6-8 years experience required; or
• Master's Degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or a related field and a minimum of 3-5 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Experience with both SAS and R.
• Experience working with large data sets and familiarity with the data quality and programming issues that arise with large clinical and laboratory data.
• Experience with CDISC, particularly mapping raw data to SDTM domains/variables.
• Knowledge of medical science and research.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines.

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods

Work Environment

• This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Compensation

• The annual salary range for this position is $77,600-$100,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
