Job summary

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Sport Fish, seeks a Biometrician in Juneau to ensure the statistical and biometric quality of research projects. You will design studies, analyze data using classical and Bayesian methods, and collaborate with fisheries managers on sport fishery objectives.

The position offers flexible staffing at three levels (Biometrician 1/2/3) with advancement opportunities through a training plan.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in biometrics, statistics, or biological sciences with 18 semester hours of graduate-level statistics/biometrics.
• Experience with statistical software including R, JAGS/WinBugs, SAS, and Program Mark.
• Knowledge of experimental design, regression, spatial and time series analysis, and mark-recapture methods.
• Proficiency with spatial data programs such as ArcGIS and ArcMap.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to present results to technical and lay audiences.
• Valid driver's license required; access to firearms may be required for field protection.
