Job summary

Cadent, powered by Syneos Health, is seeking a medical writer with strong scientific writing and literature review skills to develop educational content across oncology, pulmonary, or diabetes areas. You will distill complex data into clear, impactful medical communications, working with internal teams and clients, and traveling up to 10% as needed.

The role requires PhD/MD/PharmD and 0–1 year pharma or medical communications experience.

Qualifications

• Education: PhD/MD/PharmD; pharma or medical comm agency experience preferred (0–1 year).
• Proficient in MS Office and medical literature databases (PubMed/EMBASE).
• Ability to distill complex science into clear medical content.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with deadline discipline.

Meticulous doesn't begin to describe your dedication to accuracy. You express all your ideas effortlessly and have the skills to distill other people's ideas into their best possible form. Your messaging is not only clear and concise, but your medical expertise allows you to convey high-level scientific knowledge in meaningful and comprehensible communications. You will support content development across multiple clients and disease areas. You will:

• Develop innovative and creative scientific narratives for medical communication needs that are customized for client product and situational landscapes. This includes educational slide sets, educational content including slide decks, messaging documents, brochures, summaries, and other digital and print content formats
• Synthesize, prioritize, and visualize data effectively when developing medical communication assets
• Conduct literature searches and other desktop research to build understanding of new therapeutic areas as needed
• Interpret complex scientific and medical data for different audiences
• Collaborate with internal medical team to develop content for medical educational programs in the form of slides, text, and videos/scripts
• Participate in client meeting to review content and collect feedback
• Ensure content is scientifically accurate and supported by original references
• Fack-checking and quality control (ensuring content developed by other writers is supported by scientific evidence)
• Update content based on internal and client team feedback
• Collaborate with account and medical counterparts to track project deadlines
• Develop knowledge in multiple disease areas
• Experience in oncology, pulmonary, or diabetes therapeutic areas is a plus but not required
• Build understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and clinical development cycle
• Ability to prioritize/organize workload and manage multiple workstreams
• Build understanding of client dynamics and expectations
• Participate in client-facing meetings
• Travel (e.g. advisory board, conferences) or on-site client visits may be required around 10% of time, as needed
• Education: PhD, MD, PharmD
• 0-1 years of pharma or medical communication agency experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with account teams, other writers, editors, physicians, and clients
• Work as team player in a large team
• Analyze and synthesize complex information from multiple sources
• Communicate medical/technical information to a wide variety of audiences
• Work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team-oriented environment
• Efficiently prioritize multiple tasks and communication effectively with others; can quickly evaluate the resources and potential challenges and communicate with the team in an actionable manner
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Powerpoint, Excel), medical literature databases (PubMed and/or EMBASE), referencing and scientific visualization software

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $84,000 to $89,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
