Job summary

Laredo Medical Center is seeking an entry-level Biomedical Technician I to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a range of medical equipment in a healthcare setting. The role emphasizes safe operation, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with clinical and engineering teams to support patient care.

The incumbent will perform preventive maintenance, assist with installation and calibration of new devices, and provide technical support to clinical staff, ensuring equipment reliability and safety

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years in biomedical equipment maintenance or related technical field.
  • Military medical repair school or equivalent training preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical equipment and technology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine preventive maintenance on medical equipment including patient monitoring, infusion pumps, imaging devices, diagnostic equipment and lab instruments.
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs malfunctioning devices to minimize downtime.
  • Conducts safety checks and electrical safety testing to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Documents maintenance, repairs, and equipment performance in the CMMS.
  • Assists in installation, calibration, and setup of new equipment and ensures proper operation.
  • Provides technical support and training to clinical staff on equipment use.
  • Collaborates with clinical, engineering, and healthcare teams to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Ensures equipment meets QA standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs basic calibration and resolves setup issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and maintains reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
