Job description
Responsibilities
  • Conducts comprehensive literature searches across multiple databases with term and syntax translation.
  • Provides consultation and training to research teams on evidence synthesis research methodology and best practices for various aspects, such as risk of bias and reporting guidelines.
  • Creates and maintains research guides, instructional materials and tutorials pertaining to evidence synthesis.
  • Serves as point person for intake of all YSM requests for evidence synthesis projects, working with a committee to evaluate project readiness and the library's appropriate level of involvement.
  • Facilitates the monthly Search Methods Group meetings to share best practices, discuss policies and test new products.
  • Coordinates training to expand the development and currency of librarians' skills in evidence synthesis methodologies and techniques and further improve efficiencies. Regularly evaluates evidence syntheses software, instructional videos, and web site content.
  • Develops awareness of emerging AI technology that might help research teams and librarians work more efficiently on literature reviews.
  • Collaborates with support staff on technical work such as finding full text and creating citation management libraries.
  • Serves on departmental and library system-wide committees.
  • May serve as project manager for a variety of short-term and long-term projects.
  • Demonstrates professional development and service through publication and/or active membership in professional organizations.
  • May be required to assist with disaster recovery efforts.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skill/ability
  • Demonstrated understanding of the research process used in evidence syntheses in the biomedical and health sciences.
  • Demonstrated skills with biomedical databases and tools used in literature reviews.
  • Demonstrated understanding of methodology best practices and familiarity with requirements from funding agencies and scholarly publishers.
  • Demonstrated excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications and analytical ability.
  • Demonstrated record of designing projects and bringing them to conclusion in a timely fashion. Ability to work collaboratively and independently with varied groups within a complex organization and dynamic team environment.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills
  • Proven experience providing training to researchers and students, participation in review teams, and a track record of scholarly publications. Proven experience working in an academic medical library.
