Job summary

Memorial Healthcare System is seeking an experienced Biomedical Equipment Technician to test, repair and maintain high-end medical devices. The role involves collaboration with IT and manufacturers to ensure cybersecurity and compliance.

You will lead one or more device lines, document procedures in CMMS, analyze data for improvements and train BMET staff in a fast-paced hospital setting in Hollywood, FL.

Qualifications

  • Seven years of experience in repair and maintenance of medical equipment.
  • Associates degree in Electronics or equivalent required.
  • Experience with CMMS documentation and preventive maintenance.
  • Biomedical equipment maintenance background preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains equipment inventories and sterilization per procedures.
  • Acts as lead resource on one or more medical device lines.
  • Documents preventive maintenance and repairs in the CMMS system.
  • Trains BMET I and II staff and mentors teammates.
  • Repairs and calibrates high-level/complex medical devices.

Summary:

Under minimal supervision, understands and provides technical knowledge and the ability to test, repair and maintain high-end/complex medical devices. Equipment also includes electronic test equipment and various types of medical equipment. Testing will be done in our facility and will involve staff interaction.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintains appropriate equipment inventories and equipment sterilization.Works in collaboration with IT and the equipment manufacturers to ensure appropriate cyber security of medical devices.
  • Acts as lead resource on one or more product lines / devices.
  • Thoroughly documents preventive maintenance and equipment repairs into the CMMS system in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Analyzes data and processes for opportunities for improvement.
  • Works in cross departmental teams to identify opportunities for improvement in practice and policy.
  • Trains and mentors Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) I and II staff.
  • Writes, reviews, and executes testing procedures on medical devices, ensuring compliance to codes and following manufacturer's instructions.
  • Performs troubleshooting and repair, calling for special service when needed.
  • Serve as project manager for moderate to high complexity projects.
  • Repairs and maintains high-level/complex medical devices by adjusting, calibrating, testing and documenting equipment performance.

Required Work Experience: Seven (7) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment.

Other Information: Candidate may have: High school diploma plus nine (9) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment, Military/Department of Defense Training in Electronics, or Bachelor's degree or higher and five (5) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment. Biomedical Industry Technical Certification is preferred.Additional Education Info: or in Applied Science Degree in Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field. Equivalent work experience may substitute for education requirement.
