Job summary

The US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) at the Marion, IL Medical Center seeks a Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist (BESS) to maintain and troubleshoot medical devices and clinical systems in the Facilities Management Service. The position supports the medical equipment management program and ensures equipment readiness for patient care.

Candidates must meet citizenship and education/certification requirements; GS levels range from 5 to 11 with increasing KSAs and responsibilities,

Qualifications

• Candidates must have the education/certification requirements listed above.
• Experience in biomedical equipment troubleshooting and maintenance is highly valued.
• Ability to document all services in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Familiarity with safety, NFPA, FDA, JCAHO standards is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and perform planned maintenance on medical devices and clinical systems.
• Support the medical equipment management program at the Marion, IL VA Medical Center.
• Document services provided in CMMS and maintain equipment records.

Associates or higher degree in biomedical technology or biomedical engineering
