Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist (BESS) to provide clinical and administrative support for lifecycle management of medical equipment facility-wide.

The role requires applying engineering and mechanical concepts to support diagnostic, monitoring, and therapeutic devices. Responsibilities include inspections, maintenance, network and safety compliance, and documentation in CMMS.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safety standards (NFPA, FDA, TJC, AAMI).
• Ability to interpret technical data and schematics.
• Experience with clinical equipment lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Lifecycle management of medical systems, including imaging and monitoring.
• Coordinate with Facilities Management, OIT, and other departments.
• Conduct inspections, maintenance, and end-of-life planning with clinical services.
• Document work in CMMS and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Load OS and software, support network-related issues as needed.
