Michigan Medicine is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician to repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment across UH, CVC, and CW ORs on an afternoon shift (1:00 pm – 9:00 pm) at the main campus.

The role requires an Associate’s degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology or equivalent military training, plus a minimum of three years’ hospital equipment experience and a valid Michigan driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology or equivalent military training.
• Knowledge and experience with advanced analog and digital electronics.
• Minimum three years of experience repairing/maintaining medical equipment, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license and ability to drive a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment and systems of varying complexity at Michigan Medicine.
• Document work in the AIMS work order system.
• Identify and prepare parts and materials for repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Cross-train with other Biomedical Engineering Technicians for backup support.

Job Summary

With minimal supervision, repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment and support systems of varying complexity at Michigan Medicine. This is an afternoon shift position, with the primary responsibility being preventative maintenance and repairs in UH, CVC, and CW ORs. Equipment responsibilities include OR tables and lights, infusion pumps, Bair Huggers, t-pumps, exercise equipment, beds, patient monitoring systems, TV systems, and other equipment as assigned.

Responsibilities

Work performed is documented in the work order database system called AIMS. Additional duties include identifying and preparing parts and materials necessary for repairs and preventative maintenance on assigned devices. Cross‑training for other Biomedical Engineering Technicians for expanded backup support is also required. Work hours are Monday - Friday, 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The primary job site is at the Michigan Medicine main campus. Technicians must have a valid Michigan driver's license and be able to drive a motor vehicle.
