Job summary

BD in San Jose, CA is seeking an on-site service technician to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and maintain complex scientific instruments in a regulated lab environment.

You will perform calibrations, document activity in the service system, and collaborate with engineering and customer service to resolve issues and improve processes. Candidates should have 2–4 years of hands-on electronics repair experience and strong problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2-4 years troubleshooting and repairing electronic or electro-mechanical equipment
• Strong understanding of electronic circuits, schematics, and diagnostic tools
• Proficiency with hand tools and repair equipment
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Basic computer skills, including experience with service management software
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs
• Valid driver's license may be required for occasional field service support

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic testing and component-level troubleshooting on complex scientific instruments.
• Execute repairs, calibrations, and preventative maintenance according to established procedures and manufacturer specifications.
• Document all repair activities, including parts used, time spent, and resolutions, accurately in the company’s service management system.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to all safety protocols and quality standards.
• Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and customer service teams to resolve technical issues and improve repair processes.
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers as needed.
• Manage spare parts inventory and requisitions for repairs.
• Stay up-to-date with new product releases, service manuals, and technical training.
