Job summary

Ventura County Community College District is hiring an Instructional Lab Technician II - Biology at Moorpark College. This temporary assignment runs Fall 2026 for 34 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits.

The role requires preparing biology labs, managing equipment, and supporting demonstrations and student work. Under direction of a Dean and an Instructor, you will oversee lab operations, maintain safety, and collaborate with diverse faculty and students in biology, biotechnology, and

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in biological sciences and two years of related work experience in an instructional setting.
Experience supervising students and assisting with lab demonstrations preferred.
Ability to maintain labs, equipment, and safety protocols in a community college environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and set up lab equipment, reagents, and supplies for class demonstrations and student assignments.
Maintain stock rooms, labs, prep areas, and ensure safety and cleanliness.
Oversee care of live specimens and manage materials on loan to students and instructors.
Order, receive, store, and manage laboratory materials and budget.
Perform microbiological prep, sterilization, and calibrations of equipment.
Train and supervise student workers and coordinate their tasks.
Operate autoclaves, balances, microscopes, and other lab apparatus.
Collaborate with faculty and students from diverse backgrounds.
