Job summary

ERM is seeking a Biologist - Remote Desktop Analyst Coordinator, based in Irvine, CA. The role supports a team of natural resources specialists by performing desktop reviews and environmental constraints analyses for a utility client across Southern California.

It is a full-time fixed-term position for 3 months with potential extension. Candidates should have a BA/BS or master’s in a natural science, at least two years of California habitat experience, and strong computer skills (Excel, Word,

  • 2+ years of field experience in California habitats, or similar (Southern California experience preferred).
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, MS Word, and online data management systems.
  • Must be able to obtain clearance through client background check to access online system.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with safety protocols and time management.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize biological and water resource knowledge to conduct desktop reviews for environmental clearance work.
  • Perform desktop environmental constraints analysis to determine applicable avoidance and minimization measures.
  • Complete work assignments in accordance with ERM's management system and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with a team and identify process improvements for client benefit.

ERM Is Hiring a Biologist - Remote Desktop Analyst Coordinator

Location: Remote Desktop Analyst Coordinator, based in Irvine, CA.

This position focuses on working closely in collaboration with a larger team of natural resources specialists to provide environmental review and constraints analysis of biological and water resources for various construction sites for a utility sector client throughout Southern California. This is a full-time (40 hours per week), fixed-term position with a duration of 3 months and the possibility of extension.

  • Utilize biological and water resource technical and critical thinking skills when conducting desktop reviews for environmental clearance work.
  • Perform desktop-based environmental constraints analysis to determine appropriate levels/types of environmental avoidance and minimization measures needed for environmental compliance.
  • Complete work assignments in accordance with ERM's management system, format and quality standards.
  • Commitment to teamwork and ability to follow established processes and protocols while also confident with identifying process improvements to provide benefit to the client.
  • BA/BS or Master’s degree in a natural science discipline.
  • 2+ years of field experience in California habitats, or similar (Southern California experience preferred).
  • Must be able to obtain clearance through client background check to access online system (upon employment).
  • Strongly proficient in computer software including Excel, MS word, and online data management systems.
  • Excellent time management and follow-through skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health & Safety protocols.
  • High level written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports.
  • Ability to multi-task, maintains flexibility, and works independently with minimal supervision on projects with expedited deadlines.
  • Demonstrated attributes to become a strong consultant – team player, eagerness to learn and grow, self-starter who takes initiative, versatile, and service-oriented mentality.
  • Ability to work safely outdoors in variable weather conditions and on challenging terrain.
  • Working knowledge of sub-meter accuracy GPS technologies and map interpretation skills (e.g., NWI, USGS, aerial photography).
  • Must have a strong attention to detail in documentation of work.
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated independent and effective problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

The anticipated annual base pay is $34.41/hr – $39.50/hr. Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay subject to the sole discretion of ERM and its policies and procedures (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
