Job summary

Doc PersonalBeratung GmbH seeks a researcher to contribute to population genetic and molecular tool studies on marine and freshwater species. You will perform laboratory work with some field activities, collect and analyze data, manage data, review literature, and prepare reports and manuscripts for publication.

The role requires a strong quantitative, organizational, writing and collaboration skills, plus the ability to work independently on a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in biology, chemistry or related field; or a bachelor's degree with 2 years relevant experience.
• Master's degree in biology preferred.
• Experience in population genetics research, experimental design, data collection and analyses.

Job description

Contribute to our ongoing population genetic and molecular tool research projects on marine and freshwater fishes and invertebrates. Work will include laboratory research (some field research), data collection and analysis, data management, literature review and synthesis, preparation of reports and presentations as well as authoring technical manuscripts. Some activities will include work on multi-disciplinary teams. A minor component will include aspects of lab management. Strong quantitative, organizational, computer, writing and inter-personal skills will be fundamental to completing necessary job duties.

A master's degree in biology, chemistry or related technical area field; or a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, wildlife management or related technical area and two (2) years of experience relevant to the job.Master's degree in biology preferred. Demonstrated abilities to conduct population genetics research including experimental design, data collection and analyses and report preparation. Publication record and experience with microsatellites, genomic library preparation, and demonstrated bioinformatic skills preferred. Knowledge of marine and/or freshwater fishes of the southeastern US and the capability to work independently.
