ATCC in Manassas, VA seeks a Biologist to support production, quality control, and characterization of biological materials in a biomanufacturing environment. The role involves applying core biology techniques and ensuring product quality in accordance with procedures.

The ideal candidate has a background in biological sciences and experience supporting production, QC, and characterization of biological or viral materials.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement: Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience, or equivalent (Master's with 0 years, or HS Diploma with 6 years).
• Experience in biomanufacturing and laboratory environments.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique and laboratory instrumentation.
• Experience maintaining production documentation and batch records.

Responsibilities

• Production operations for biological materials with viability and purity testing.
• Document batch records in compliant databases and follow cGMP guidelines.
• Support material characterization, testing, and QA activities to ensure product integrity.
• Assist with implementing production methods and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain laboratory readiness and manage inventory in BSL-1/BSL-2 environments.
• Collaborate with teams to support production goals and funded projects.

This onsite position in Manassas, VA supports laboratory activities within ATCC Federal Solutions in a biomanufacturing environment, offering diverse learning opportunities and cross-functional collaboration with teams across ATCC Federal Solutions. The role contributes to the production, characterization, testing, and quality assurance of biological materials while supporting product integrity and contractual deliverables. The Biologist applies core biology techniques and laboratory practices to help ensure high-quality biological products are produced in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Production Operations: Conduct manufacturing processes for biological materials, including viability and purity testing, following approved procedures and quality standards.
• Quality & Compliance: Document production activities in batch records and databases while adhering to cGMP, safety, and organizational requirements.
• Biological Material Characterization: Support testing, characterization, and quality assurance activities to ensure product integrity.
• Process Support: Assist with implementation of production methods, technologies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Laboratory Operations: Maintain inventory, monitor equipment functionality, and support laboratory readiness in BSL-1 and BSL-2 environments.
• Team Collaboration: Partner with colleagues to support production goals, routine troubleshooting, and funded project activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in biomanufacturing, biological production operations, and laboratory environments.

• Preferred: Experience supporting quality control, production, and characterization of viral materials.

Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation including regular merit increases and the corporate bonus program.
