Job summary

The Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge in Awendaw, South Carolina, is seeking a Biological Science Technician (Seasonal) GS-0404-05 to support wildlife and habitat surveys. This temporary Not to Exceed 1039 hours position.

Job description

You will serve as a Biological Science Technician (Seasonal) GS-0404-05 working in Awendaw, South Carolina, for the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge.

This is a Temporary Not to Exceed 1039 hours position.

Qualifications:

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-09/04/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.

To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  1. One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-04 in the Federal service. Specialized experience may include: assisting with wildlife population or habitat surveys, capturing, handling, and tagging a variety of wildlife; assisting with native and invasive plant surveys and invasive species treatments, Capturing fish for fish sampling; collecting water quality data; data collection and recording. OR
  2. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. At least 6 semester hours of courses must have been directly related to the position to be filled. OR
  3. A combination of education and experience as described in 1 and 2 above which together equals 100% of the requirement
