Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission seeks a Biological Administrator I to lead regional invasive plant management programs in Florida. You will supervise 6 FTE and 1 OPS staff, oversee permitting and enforcement, and coordinate field operations across the region.

You will assess plant populations, develop control strategies, provide educational services, and ensure regulatory compliance and consistent permit issuance while collaborating with public and stakeholder groups.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of invasive plant management principles and practices.
• Familiarity with nonnative species issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; public speaking capability.
• Ability to supervise staff effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The Biological Administrator I manages invasive plant and aquatic plant control programs across a Florida region for the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The role supervises 6 FTE and 1 OPS staff, oversees permitting and enforcement activities related to aquatic plant management, and coordinates regional field operations. The incumbent assesses plant populations, recommends control strategies, provides educational services, and ensures consistent permit issuance and regulatory compliance.

Key qualifications:

• High school diploma and 7 years professional experience in a related biological field (or Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field with 4 years experience)
• Knowledge of invasive plant management principles and practices; familiarity with nonnative species issues
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated technical writing ability and public speaking capability
• Ability to supervise staff effectively and work well in a fast-paced environment
• Experience working with the public and stakeholder representatives; ability to travel throughout Florida for several days at a time
