Job summary

Foundation Medicine seeks a Scientist I, Bioinformatics to develop and optimize methods for detecting alterations in tumor DNA and RNA, contributing to biomarker and companion diagnostics development. The role spans method development, data mining, and interdisciplinary collaboration to advance diagnostics.

You will contribute to new algorithms, work within a multidisciplinary team, and present results while supporting project timelines and deliverables.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required; PhD preferred.
• 1+ year of industry experience or post-doctoral work.
• Proficiency with programming and scripting languages R and Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop diagnostic methods using massively parallel sequencing of tumor DNA and RNA.
• Develop algorithms to identify and characterize alterations in tumor DNA and RNA from clinical samples.
• Enhance assay capabilities and robustness of existing methods.
• Analyze large data sets for method development and validation.
• Present data clearly to colleagues and stakeholders.
