Job summary

Dovetail Genomics, based in Santa Cruz, CA, is seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist to advance clinical applications of proximity ligation technology. Qualifications

  • PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, or equivalent; postdoc/industry experience a plus.
  • Experience developing and implementing novel bioinformatics algorithms and pipelines.
  • Extensive experience processing, integrating, and visualizing large multi-omics datasets (WGS, RNA-Seq, etc.).
  • Proficiency with agentic AI for robust code development and scientific workflows.
  • Experience with human pangenome and pangenome-based analysis is a plus.
  • Expertise in Python programming and ability to learn new bioinformatics resources.
  • Experience in Linux-based cloud computing environments (AWS preferred).
  • Ability to quickly become an expert in new fields.
  • Exceptional depth in cancer genomics, oncology, or related fields.
  • Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and drive development of novel analytical methods for large Hi-C datasets.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary R&D teams on assay development & benchmarking.
  • Support production and commercial teams with data analysis and interpretation.
  • Regularly present work to diverse audiences, internally and externally.
  • Contribute bioinformatics-focused white papers, posters, and publications.

Dovetail Genomicsis an EdenRoc Sciences startup company based in Santa Cruz, CA developing cutting-edge genomics technologies for vastly improving genome assembly, uncovering critical structural variation information, as well as many applications for studying epigenetics. We are a diverse, talented, multi-disciplinary team innovating in the field of genomics, with the goal of leaving a lasting impact on the world by providing researchers and clinicians with tools for better informing biological understanding.

This role is located in Scotts Valley offices as we find one-on-one in person collaboration very valuable.

We are looking for an outstandingBioinformatics Scientisttodrivenevelopment of newclinicalapplications ofthe proximity ligation technology created by Dovetail Genomics. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing advanced NGS-based analytical methods,ideallywith a focus on cancer genomics. Prior experience with proximity ligation (Hi-C) is not required, but it is expected that it will be bepicked upquickly.He/she should be driven bydeveloping impactfulproducts andenjoy working ina multi-disciplinary environment. This position will interact closely with colleagues in computational biology,molecular biology,commercial, and finance.

  • Investigate and drive the development of novel analytical methods that leverage large Hi-C datasets to enable new products and services.
  • Collaborateclosely withmulti-disciplinaryR&Dteams on assay development & benchmarking.

  • Regularly present your work both internally and externally, effectively communicating your methods and results to audiences with diverse scientific and non-scientific backgrounds.

SkillsAndBackground
