Job summary

Brigham Young University seeks a continuing faculty status (CFS) in Bioinformatics. The candidate will teach courses across biology and computer science programs and develop an interdisciplinary curriculum that integrates computation with biology.

The role includes establishing a mentored research program with undergraduates and graduates, pursuing AI-enabled methods for biological problems, and contributing to service within the department and university.

Qualifications

• PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, or related field; must be completed by start date.
• Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in bioinformatics, computational biology, or related areas.
• Active research program in bioinformatics engaging undergrad/grad students.
• Experience with data analysis, programming, ML, and AI as applied to biological systems.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses BIO 165 (Intro to Bioinformatics) and BIO 264 (Computational Methods for Biologists), and upper-division/grad courses in bioinformatics and data analysis.
• Develop and deliver curriculum that integrates computational methods in biologically meaningful contexts.
• Establish and maintain an externally visible research program involving undergrad and grad students in mentored research.
• Mentor students, engage in department/university service, and support BYU's mission.
