Job summary

Natera is a global leader in cfDNA testing, dedicated to oncology, women’s health and organ health. We seek a Bioinformatics Manager to lead the Bioinformatics team focused on Oncology Product Development and to manage a group of bioinformaticians and data scientists in the design, development and validation of ctDNA-based tests.

Collaboration across biostatistics, molecular biology, software engineering and commercial departments is essential.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate data science and/or bioinformatics experience (4–8+ years).
  • 1–3 years in a technical lead role in diagnostics or related field.
  • Experience moving algorithm-based products through commercialization and launch.
  • Strong Python/R and ML foundation; solid statistics and modeling understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, optimization, and improvement of tools and analysis pipelines for diagnostic tests, including detection of cancer-associated variants or methylation patterns and setting evidence-based quality control thresholds.
  • Provide technical leadership for product development projects by representing the team in cross-functional interactions and advancing products from research through commercial launch.
  • Supervise bioinformatics scientists and data scientists, manage technical contributions, prioritize resources, and develop team members.
  • Provide input on experimental design, analysis and interpretation based on expertise in Natera’s technology and relevant mathematical principles.
  • Operate with a high level of independence and responsibility in carrying out assignments.
  • Contribute to the company’s intellectual property portfolio.
  • Set standards for rigorous data analysis and lead the production of high-quality documentation.

Bioinformatics Manager (Oncology Product Development)

Natera is seeking a Bioinformatics Manager to lead the Bioinformatics team focused on Oncology Product Development. The role involves managing a team of bioinformaticians and data scientists and providing technical leadership in the design, development and validation of ctDNA-based diagnostic tests. This position requires collaboration across biostatistics, molecular biology, software engineering and commercial departments. The ideal candidate will have strong bioinformatics and data science expertise, with experience in analysis or modeling of DNA methylation data and a track record of project and technical leadership.

Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Minimum 4-8 years of postgraduate experience in a data science and/or bioinformatics role and 1-3 years as a technical lead in diagnostics or a related field.
  • Experience moving algorithm-based products through commercialization and launch in medical or biological applications such as diagnostic testing, medical imaging, or biotechnology.
Desirable
  • Prior experience analyzing or modeling DNA methylation data (not required).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience using Python or R for scientific data analysis and visualization.
  • Strong foundation in statistical modeling and machine learning, including probability theory and estimation/classification methods.
  • Experience with analysis of next-generation sequencing data, including algorithm development or optimization.
  • Ability to apply mathematical principles to solve real estimation problems and implement practical solutions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills to independently make sound judgments and develop creative solutions to moderately complex problems.
  • Experience leading technical projects, defining and meeting milestones, delegating tasks, and ensuring quality of deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Compensation & Total Rewards

This range reflects a good-faith estimate of base pay at the time of hire. Final compensation will vary based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

This position is eligible for additional compensation and benefits through Natera’s Total Rewards program, including:

Compensation Range: $154,000 - $192,500 USD
