Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, WA seeks a Bioinformatics Analyst I to perform data analysis on clinical trials and develop statistical approaches for high‑dimensional biomarker data. The Bioinformatics Analyst I provide highly specialized consulting and data analysis services to researchers at the Hutch and across the wider Fred Hutch/UW Cancer Consortium. This position requires the ability to work independently, manage multiple overlapping demands, and communicate effectively with faculty, and research staff on a wide range of topics in biology, and data science.

The Wu lab at the Fred Hutch has an opening for a biostatistician with experience in biostatistics, bioinformatics, and computational biology. This position will work with Dr. Qian (Vicky) Wu in the Clinical Research Division to embark on an exciting journey to tackle some of the most burning issues in immunotherapy and correlative data analysis with lab data, through an approach which combines cutting edge computational methods and clinical trials.

PRIMARY/ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Conduct data analysis on data from clinical trials.
• Develop and apply statistics, bioinformatics, machine learning approach on high dimensional biomarker data.
• Develop statistical software, such as R Shiny tool.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

• Weekly meeting with Dr. Wu to communicate the results.
• Make sure appropriate coding and methods were used.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics or equivalent education.
• 0-2 years of work experience with bioinformatics in the relevant scientific domain.
• Proficiency in, at least, one modern scripting or programming language (Python, R, etc)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• MS degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics or equivalent education.
• Ability to learn new tools and content quickly and independently.
• Effective use of shell scripting and significant fluency in R and Python are essential.
• Facility with commonly used Bioconductor packages, ggplot etc. Ability to generate and customize common data visualizations (PCA plots, volcano plots, Circos plots, etc).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are absolutely required.
• Good numeracy, literacy, and organizational skills.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $33.42 to $50.12 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
