Job summary

Goldbelt Professional Services seeks a Bioinformatician to provide statistical support for the Office of the Director (OD). You will design and maintain databases, conduct analyses, and prepare reports for manuscript development and public audiences.

The role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in SAS/R/Python, and experience with data management tools. You will participate in CDC response activities under DHQP guidance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1–2 years in public health or quantitative field.
  • Master’s degree plus 3–5 years preferred in public health or quantitative field.
  • Proficiency with SAS, R, Python; data management software experience.

Responsibilities

  • Gather data using research methods and data collection tools.
  • Design and maintain databases (SAS, SUDAAN, Access, Excel).
  • Perform descriptive statistics, factor analyses, and regression models.
  • Extract data from NHSN and similar sources for analysis.
  • Interpret analyses for scientific/public audiences and project teams.
  • Prepare reports supporting manuscript development.
  • Conduct statistical analysis of complex surveillance with large datasets.
  • Assist during CDC response activities and training under DHQP Team Lead.

Goldbelt Professional Services specializes in providing expert resources for Public Health missions including scientific, technical, and administrative support from junior staff to high-level subject matter experts. Research and data driven, Goldbelt Professional Services’ experts create solutions customized to the client’s needs.

Summary

Goldbelt Professional Services is seeking a Bioinformatician to provide statistical support for the Office of the Director (OD).

Responsibilities
  • Utilize research methodology and data collection tools to ensure appropriate data is gathered.
  • Design and maintain databases for management, including SAS, SUDAAN, Access, and Excel.
  • Conduct data analyses including descriptive statistics, factor analyses, and various regression models.
  • Extract data from sources including NHSN for analysis.
  • Prepare preliminary interpretations of analyses for scientific and public audiences, project teams, and/or management.
  • Prepare reports based on analytical results, supporting manuscript development.
  • Perform statistical analysis of complex surveillance using large datasets, including merging techniques and established statistical methodologies.
  • Participate during CDC response activities and training exercises under direction of the DHQP Team Lead; duties include staffing the EOC desk to help support CDC's mission.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint).
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making; capable of working independently with ability to multitask successfully.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication in interpersonal exchanges.
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1–2 years of relevant work experience in a relevant public health or quantitative field.
  • Highly proficient in using various statistical software (SAS, R, Python, etc.)
  • Knowledge of data management systems and application of data management software.
  • Previous experience working with the government procedures and guidelines.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Public Trust Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree plus 3–5 years of relevant work experience in a relevant public health or quantitative field.
  • Prior experience working with the CDC is highly desired to understand the culture and environment.
Pay and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $90,000.00 to $100,000.00 annually.
