Job summary

Melody FRO, LLC is hiring a bioelectronics engineer to build and run our foundry approach, integrating protein biosensor and device engineering. This role is for systems-minded experimentalists who care about real-world constraints, owning the wet side of the interface from protein to in vivo experiments.

You will lead biosensor integration, coordinate across biology, materials chemistry, and electronics, and collaborate with the hardware team to push toward real-world performance.

Qualifications

• Required: PhD in a relevant science/engineering field with strong independent ideation and execution or BS/MS with extensive industry experience (>5 years).
• Deep expertise in two or more areas among protein engineering, protein expression/purification, bioconjugation, surface chemistry, hydrogels/biomaterials, optical biosensing, electrochemical biosensing, microfluidics, assay automation, biofluid assay development, biofouling characterization/mitigation.

Responsibilities

• Lead wetware integration strategy across biosensor proteins, surface chemistry, hydrogels, membranes, and readout hardware.
• Design diagnostic experiments to distinguish biosensor failure from immobilization failure, diffusion limits, matrix effects, artifacts, fouling, drift, or hardware noise.
• Execute directed evolution workflows and guide protein design based on results.
• Synthesize or adapt materials for bioelectronics interfaces.
• Merge device hardware with proteins and materials in collaboration with hardware team.
• Help automate fabrication and assay workflows using robotics.
