Essential Functions
- Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) on medical equipment, including patient monitoring systems, infusion pumps, imaging devices, diagnostic equipment, and laboratory instruments.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair malfunctioning medical devices and systems promptly to minimize downtime.
- Conduct safety checks and electrical safety testing (ESD/ESI) on biomedical devices to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards (e.g., ANSI, IEC).
- Document maintenance, repairs, and equipment performance in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Assist in installation, calibration, and setup of new medical equipment and ensure proper operation during initial use.
- Provide technical support and training to clinical staff on proper use and care of medical equipment to prevent user errors.
- Collaborate with clinical, engineering, and other healthcare teams to ensure reliability and safety of biomedical equipment.
- Ensure medical equipment meets quality assurance standards and adheres to applicable regulatory requirements.
- Perform basic calibration procedures and resolve equipment issues during setup or routine use.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- 1–3 years in biomedical equipment maintenance or a related technical field.
- Military medical repair specialist school or equivalent electronic training and experience preferred.
- Familiarity with medical equipment and technology preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience with healthcare technology management programs (e.g., internship).
- Medical equipment knowledge (manufacturers, models, modalities, capital planning).
- Understanding of regulatory requirements of medical devices (CMS, TJC, CLIA, AABB, NRC, state, local).
- Advanced computer skills (proficient with Microsoft products) and experience with CMMS products.
- Strong planning, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, communication, and presentation skills.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and mechanical principles.
- Strong technical and problem‑solving skills with ability to troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment.
Licenses and Certifications
- Certified Biomedical Technician (CBET) – AAMI preferred.
- Certification by the International Certification Commission (ICC) in relevant biomedical fields preferred.
