Job summary

Dennis Group is seeking a BIM/VDC Intern/Co‑Op to support cross‑project BIM/VDC operations, coordinating with clients and sub‑consultants to meet BIM/VDC standards. The role collaborates with the BIM Manager to drive standardization across architecture, MEP, and structural disciplines, on both renovations and new construction projects.

The candidate should be pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s in VDC/BIM, maintain a 3.0 GPA, and have CAD experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Plant3D,

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in VDC/BIM or related program.
• GPA 3.0 (minimum).
• Work or school experience in a computer-aided drafting and design setting.
• Work or school experience in AutoCAD, Plant3D, Navisworks, Bluebeam or similar programs.
• Work or school experience in Revit and Inventor.
• Knowledge of industry standard BIM/VDC documentation (BEP, BIMForum, etc.).
• Experience with design of Food and Beverage processes a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform BIM/VDC responsibilities for the team across all projects, ensuring coordination with clients and sub-consultants to meet BIM/VDC standards.
• Assist in the development of BIM Execution Plan (BEP) strategies and provide support to BIM/VDC coordinators and the BIM/VDC Manager with client interactions.
• Support the BIM/VDC Manager in training design personnel on BIM/VDC tools and processes.
• Assist setting up, managing, and maintaining digital delivery platforms, project models, and associated documentation.
• Collaborate with BIM/VDC Leadership to evaluate BIM modeling proficiency within project teams, including trade partners and external design collaborators.
• Work with the BIM/VDC Project Engineer to facilitate multidisciplinary model coordination and clash detection throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist in the training, implementation, and support of BIM/VDC tools and processes for the project team.
• Collaborate with project teams to determine appropriate drawing scales, sheet layouts, and establish building breakdowns and match lines for floor plans where applicable.
• Support the project team in identifying conflicts and resolving incomplete or ambiguous design deliverables.
• Assist the project team in converting vendor equipment into Revit models.
• Aid in the assembly, review, and transmittal of drawing packages for issue releases.
• Foster and maintain positive relationships with customers and clients.

Job Summary

The BIM/VDC Intern / Co-Op will assist in BIM/VDC operations across all projects, ensuring seamless coordination with clients and sub-consultants to meet BIM/VDC standards. This role will collaborate with Dennis Group project discipline leads and the BIM Manager to drive internal BIM/VDC standardization efforts. Projects will include both existing building renovations and new construction, requiring documentation for various disciplines such as Architecture, Electrical, Fire Protection, HVAC, Piping (Mechanical, Process, Plumbing), and Structural. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for BIM/VDC innovations and emerging technologies within the AEC industry.

About You

• Sophomore, Junior or Senior pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Virtual Design & Construction (VDC), Building Information Modeling (BIM) or a related program.
• GPA = 3.0 (minimum)
• Work or school experience in a computer-aided drafting and design setting
• Work or school experience in AutoCAD, Plant3D, Navisworks, Bluebeam or similar programs
• Work or school experience in Revit and Inventor
• Knowledge of industry standard BIM/VDC documentation (BEP, BIMForum, etc.)
• Experience with design of Food and Beverage processes a plus

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift-up to 15 pounds at times.
